The Marble Falls High School girls soccer team lost to Fischer Canyon Lake 4-1 March 11 in District 26-4A play.

The outcome means that Fredericksburg (9-6-3, 3-5-1) finishes fourth in the district standings to advance to the Class 4A playoffs behind district champion Wimberley (18-1-2, 7-0-2), San Antonio Davenport (15-2-1, 7-2) and Canyon Lake (12-5-3, 5-1-3).

Marble Falls (9-11-1, 2-7) will end the season at Bandera (3-15-1, 0-9) in a varsity only match at 6 p.m. Friday, March 15.

Canyon Lake led 2-1 and scored a goal in the final two minutes of the first half to take a 3-1 lead at the intermission. Junior Savanna Oberholtzer scored three of the Lady Hawk goals.

“We couldn’t stop their forward,” Marble Falls head coach Marisa Miller said. “We didn’t defend like we should have. And she punished us for it.”

In a throw-in in the second half, Oberholtzer was near the fence of Mustang Stadium waiting for officials to tell her to begin play. She ran then did a forward flip before throwing the ball to a teammate. Though the Lady Hawks didn’t score on the play, that illustrated Oberholtzer’s versatility and depth of skill.

During the contest, Oberholtzer scored her 100th goal.

“We didn’t defend like we should have,” Miller said.

Sophomore Madison Hardaway scored the Lady Mustangs’ only goal unassisted.

“It bounced off a Canyon Lake player, and (Hardaway) kicked it over the goalie’s head,” the coach said.

Marble Falls will miss the playoffs after advancing in 2023 and 2024.

Miller has been taking extensive notes on where the Lady Mustangs can be better in 2025.

Because the team has no seniors, all 19 players — eight juniors, six sophomores and five freshmen — are expected to return.

“We have a lot of work to do as a team,” the coach said. “We’ve been talking about how it’s a growing year. We’re a new team. We’ll continue to keep learning and see the competition. We need to get to where we can compete in these games.”
